Welcome to Our FFMV Adventure Los Angeles and Santa Barbara!

10 Ambassadors, 8 from FFMV and 2 from the Quebec Region Club

DAY 1: Los Angeles

We enjoyed a Welcome Party with dinner and a few speeches, and a presentation of our donation to “Mending Kids” charity. The Welcome Party venue was held at a very impressive church hall!

DAY 2: The Getty Center Art Gallery and Gardens with the views of LA.

Day 3: Exploring La Brea Tar Pits

An interesting Tour of La Brea Tar Pits, the Page Museum of fossils about pre-historic creatures living in Los Angeles area, some found in the tar pits on the museum grounds. Ancient Horse skeleton, Page Museum.

Day 4: Goodbye and Hello!

FFMV said good bye to our new Los Angeles friends and took a Mid-day train trip to Santa Barbara.

Day 5: Santa Barbara

We had a tour of Direct Relief, a huge non-profit, which creates emergency supply kits for medical, fire, weather and other disaster emergencies. Followed by a Land Shark tour, an amphibious tour of the city and harbour.

Day 6: Exploring the town of Carpinteria

A fabulous day in the town of Carpinteria, with visits to unique shops, museums, a beach tour and picnic lunch at Nichols Exotic Fruit Orchard. We learned about growing cherimoyas, passion fruit, and avocados. We then enjoyed a Mexican dinner party at a local member’s home.

Days 7, 8 & 9

Day 7: We all visited Solvang, a Danish heritage town. Some of us also visited a nearby ostrich farm, winery and more.

Day 8: Free Day

Day 9: We had a self-guided tour of Santa Barbara Mission, with a picnic lunch. Walk at Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden.

Overall, FFMV enjoyed a free day and visits to the Museum of Natural History, Arts & Crafts on the waterfront, street shopping, & multiple home-hosted meals. The highlights included the exotic fruit farm, visits to unique nearby towns, and fabulous food. The ambassadors were delighted with their new-found friends, jam-packed interesting experiences and social events.
